Windows XP Upgrade Options

Windows 8 LogoAs of April 8 2014, your XP computer will no longer receive automatic updates that help protect your personal information. Even if you have anti-virus software, your computer may not be fully secure and likely will not be compatible with newer applications.

  • 10 Year Lifecycle. Windows XP was so popular that support has been extended to 12 years. Retiring a product is a normal part of the product lifecycle, especially when technology continues to improve rapidly.
  • New PC required. Unless your computer is less than 2 years old to meet current requirements, you’ll need to purchase a new computer and transfer your files.
  • Current PC 37% less than 2002. Per the IDC Worldwide Quarterly PC Tracker report of Q4 2014, a new PC costs a third less than 2002 computers. They are also thinner, lighter, faster, and have great battery.
  • Apple 1 year support and warranty. While some customers complain about having to upgrade from Windows XP after more than a decade, they quickly learn that Apple only supports the current OS X version with just 1 year hardware warranty.

It’s been a great run for this popular and even beloved operating system, but now it’s time to move on and join the current era.
